Kazakh oil output edges up to 90.5 mln tonnes in 2019

According to preliminary estimates, oil and gas condensate production in Kazakhstan in 2019 amounted to 90.5 million tons (against 90.36 million tons in 2018).

The ministry of energy of Kazakhstan also reported production volumes at the country's largest oil and gas projects. The Tengiz oil field produced 29.8 million tonnes in 2019, while output was at 11.3 million tonnes at Karachaganak and at 14.1 million tonnes at Kashagan, according to preliminary data.

The indicators are in line with forecasts: earlier it was expected that by the end of 2020, oil production in the country would amount to 90 million tons. At the same time, according to the results of 9 months of 2019, the volume of oil production in Kazakhstan decreased by about 0.5% as a result of repairs at the largest fields. By 2024, the government of Kazakhstan plans to increase production in the country to 100 million tons and to 105 million tons by 2025.
